Find Rest
Offering evidence-based counselling therapy for Trauma, Anxiety, and Depression
Finding rest is healing from past wounds, while growing a connection with yourself and others
Traumatic stress, anxiety and depression are some of the common manifestations of unrest in our lives. Yet, finding rest does not only mean taking a break from what we are doing or simply indulging in temporary pleasures. Rest is healing from past wounds and learning how to reconnect with yourself and others. At Resting Tree Counselling, we are here to help you find rest within yourself again.
Our Services
-
Trauma is the response to a deeply disturbing or stressful event(s) that overwhelms our ability to cope. If you have experienced earlier events in your life that have caused you to feel helpless, unsafe and out of control, you might be struggling with trauma.
-
Anxiety isn’t just feeling on edge or being unable to relax. It feels like fighting the constant urge of needing to be in control. Do you struggle with persistent feelings of worry, overthinking, reassurance-seeking, procrastination, irritability or poor concentration?
-
Depression makes you feel like you are just “existing” instead of “living”. It removes the colour from the world and makes you see things in black and white. Are you struggling with feelings of unworthiness, hopelessness or a lack of motivation towards life?
-
Chronic pain is more than just a sensation of physical discomfort; it infiltrates all aspects of an individual's life, including their emotional and mental states. The relationship between chronic pain and mental health is bidirectional, with each influencing and exacerbating the other.
“As your therapists, our office is our heart. It is where we hold space for all stories and emotions, no matter how big or small.”
Approach
Humanistic
All of us have worth, and we deserve to be treated with care and respect. The humanistic approach believes that every individual can be empowered for change, therefore growing to become better versions of ourselves
Trauma-Informed Approach
We take careful steps to uphold principles of trauma-informed care along with trauma-specific interventions such as Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), and Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Acceptance & Commitment Therapy
We struggle with the word “acceptance” because we don’t want to lose control. In ACT, we learn how acceptance can bring more calm by being curious about our emotions and staying committed to our values
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
It is not uncommon to judge a situation according to our biases or jump to conclusions when we feel something’s not right. In CBT, we learn to identify and correct thinking patterns that may not be helpful for us, that reduce the intensity of our difficult feelings and increase problem-solving skills
